Ambleside Pier, Lake District
Ambleside Pier is a pretty well known point of interest in Ambleside, especially when it comes to people visiting to take photos. It’s not surprising when you get there though – with the mountains in the background the view alone is breathtaking, and with the boats on the lake whilst it’s sunny you can be forgiven for forgetting you’re in England for a moment (until you turn around and see the good old English pub, that is).
We actually started the day trying to find Stockghyll Falls and, whilst parked on the wrong side of Stockghyll, there was this adorable little blue tit in a tree. For those of you who don’t know this, birds are quite possibly my favourite subject to photograph, so when I manage to snap a pic of a new bird it’s pretty exciting for me! (I’m a slight geek like that).
After this little encounter, we drove down to the Pier and got a few photos. The weather was still really nice at this point and there was a pair of swans swimming near all of the Pier attractions.
After this part of the day we headed back to our hotel and grabbed a guide for a walk round Rydal. You can view the post for that part here.
