Rivington Pike, Bolton
Last Saturday started off with the nicest light I’ve seen in a while; which was perfect for a walk up Rivington Pike. For those of you who don’t know, this is a pretty nice walk in Chorley/Bolton full of hidden gems.
First up, one of my favourite things about Rivington Pike is the below tree. I wish I could explain why, it’s probably just it’s isolation in an area full of trees that attracts me most. The clouds were pretty good to me also for this photo which helps!
You don’t have to walk up too high after this tree to get to this pretty impressive view. Even with the trees in front you can really grasp how high up you are, and it’s magical.
Walk just a little further and you get to a bridge, which I guess should look alien within all the greenery but it works miraculously well. Follow the path under and eventually you reach some archways on the left of the path.
This leads to my favourite place. An overgrown tennis court area which has truly been taken back by nature. With two large former Summer houses also, it’s definitely a special place to be in.
