FairyLoot Unboxing July 2019 | Magic in the City
July’s FairyLoot box had items inspired by Shadowhunters, A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson andThe Girl At Midnight. Art for the box by Taratjah was gorgeous again!
Check out all the items below.
This month’s book was Wicked Fox by Kat Cho, and I’ve had my eyes on it for a while! The book is signed with these stunning sprayed edges (sprayed edges are pretty much my favourite). The character art is by @kavon_kayleigh and it’s beautiful.
A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.
Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret–she’s a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.
But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead–her gumiho soul–in the process.
Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl–he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He’s drawn to her anyway.
With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon’s.
This ceramic mug is inspired by the Shadowhunters, featuring art from @taratjah. I’d love it if I was a fan of Shadowhunters but can definitely still appreciate it without that.
This nine-tailed mug rug is inspired by Wicked Fox and designed by @osidiayan, it’s beautiful!
Is it a book box without a candle even? As you can see mine got a little tear on the way (pretty good considering it looked like someone had bashed the box in during its travels!) but it’s inspired by A Curse So Dark and Lonely, created by @acourtofcandles and features art by @taratjah!
I love this Percy Jackson pin banner but I have one gripe about it, @inkandwonder.designs has basically made it so pretty I couldn’t possibly put pins on it!
Hello why yes I do like dragons and Harry Potter and this recreation in Universal Studios is one of my favourite sights so obviously I love this necklace! It’s designed by @bookmarkd.tattoos.
I haven’t read The Girl at Midnight, and I’m not quite sure what this quote means but the design itself is very pretty! It’s kind of thin for a coin purse but I’m sure fans of the book would love it! It’s from @nutmegandarlo.
I mean, I’m always down for food so I’m glad this was included! My fortune is a quote from Leigh Bardugo but I do really like it.
This month’s tarot cards are inspired by Harry Potter (Ron and Luna of course) and feature gorgeous artwork from @loweana.art.
Slight chance I forgot to take a photo of everything… but this month’s box was pretty good again! I feel like FairyLoot are getting better and better with the items included and I’m definitely looking forward to August’s box!
Next Month – Things Are Not What They Seem 🖤
From FairyLoot themselves:
‘The August ‘THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM’ boxes are now available for single purchase in our online store! Boxes are limited so make sure you secure one soon! Previously, they had only been open for subscriptions, so if you’ve recently subscribed or already have an active subscription you will be getting this box.
This box features items inspired by books that surprised us with crazy plot twists or characters. You can expect items inspired by Stalking Jack The Ripper, The Lunar Chronicles, An Ember in the Ashes, Lord of the Rings, Mistborn and Graceling!
This box is jam packed with goodies, but for now we’ll only reveal that we’re featuring an item we’ve never included before and this box will also have a CUSHION COVER!
The featured book of the month is definitely not one to be missed! It is set in a world where there are magical castes, and each caste has a different ability. The story follows a girl who draws magic from teeth (yes, TEETH!) who strikes a bargain with a fugitive prince and a wily bodyguard. You’ll be gripped from page one of this unique story!
The edition we’re featuring will be a FairyLoot exclusive! It is SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, has EXCLUSIVE ART on the reverse of the dust jacket and comes with an EXCLUSIVE EMBOSSING underneath the dust jacket on the naked cover. We cannot wait for you to see this edition!’
I haven’t read most of these fandoms but I’m definitely excited to see how the items turn out! Do I need another cushion cover? No, but they’re one of my favourite items to get regardless! Also obviously excited for the LOTR item and I’m hoping to get round to The Lunar Chronicles soon!
