One of my plans for time off is to grab all the books I’ve loved together, but it might not be a surprise that Shanghai Immortal is absolutely going to be there, can’t wait for more Lady Jing 🥺

How’s everyone doing? I had a cute day out with my mum yesterday in advance of my birthday coming up this week, she got me another bookcase so I could do some more organising today 🥹🥰

🦋 If I Have To Be Haunted by Miranda Sun 🦋

QOTD: Have you read any books featuring ghosts? 👻

If I Have To Be Haunted was a story I’d been looking forward to reading since it was first announced, and I’m glad to say that it didn’t disappoint!

The main character, Cara, is trying desperately hard to hide her magic as a ghost speaker, someone who can see and talk to the dead. Simultaneously, she’s finding herself at odds with a boy from her school, called Zach.

Without giving too much away, Cara and Zach end up on an adventure where the situation is life or death, but to go on such a ride she has to defy her mother (who wants her to ignore her ability entirely).

Throughout the story we get glimpses into her relationship with her mother, and we see how strained it is. It added another element and I couldn’t help but wish that the two would be able to settle their differences.

In terms of screen time though, the main romance definitely took the limelight. It’s a sweet, slow-burn, hate-to-love romance, with a wild adventure behind it throughout.

Overall there was a lot of emotion packed into this story, and I’m looking forward to anything else Miranda writes! 🦋

Still so in love with the end-papers on this Fairyloot edition 😍 traded for the physical proof because I was enjoying the book, so I got to get both signed at YALC last month 💖

I’ve been hunting down merch from The Astronaut launch for a couple of months now 😂 it’s not the easiest and I keep kicking myself for not listening to BTS enough before this year, but it’s making for a little fun thing to do before they return at least 🥺

Book-related, I’m getting a couple of reviews together this evening! One for If I have to be Haunted by Miranda Sun and then Sound the Gong by Joan He, I loved them both 💕

And currently reading The Scarlet Alchemist by Kylie Lee Baker and fangirling over any Fullmetal Alchemist likeness 🥹

A Multitude of Dreams is one I’ve had my eye on since seeing @kala__reads talk about it so much! ❤️

I bought the plushies because they were too cute to resist. Cat Bus has a pull tab and vibrates 🥹 I grabbed a Sanrio plush too but that’s with most of my other Sanrio at my mum’s.

QOTD: What was the last thing you bought that you were excited for? I guess this is highly appropriate with Black Friday being yesterday 😂 I still need to place a Waterstones preorder for maximum points 😍

One of my favourite things about @yalc_uk is being able to get my fave books signed, it’s basically the main reason I go when I can!
