Well, this month’s OwlCrate has got to have been the heaviest box yet! The theme was ‘Fight Like a Girl’ which I was ridiculously excited for, I’ve been on a bit of a roll lately when it comes to reading books with sassy females standing up for themselves (latest being the Daughter of the Pirate King duology) and of course I fairly recently read Sky in the Deep…
Anyway, this box included items inspired by: Harry Potter, Children of Blood and Bone, A Court of Wings and Ruin, Six of Crows, The Wrath and the Dawn and Flame in the Mist.
The Book
I knew it’d be Sky in the Deep for this month’s box. When OwlCrate announced the box and book, I’d recently read it and really wanted to pre-order it, I was actually about to pre-order it that evening. Just look at how beautiful it is!
Again it’s an OwlCrate exclusive cover, with silver accents instead gold, and signed on the inside and there’s even a ‘Breathe Fire’ enamel pin and and… I love it. I loved this book and I love all the additional things with it and how it’s signed…
Wall Hanging
This was the first thing I found in the box and probably one of my favourite bookish items ever! Inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses series (very appropriate considering the recent release) I absolutely adore this wall hanging from Evie Bookish.
Bath Bomb
This ‘Zélie Magic Bath Bomb’ is based off Children of Blood and Bone, made by Whipped Up Wonderful. I still need to read the book but this is a gorgeous bath bomb and I can’t wait to use it!
Bookmark
This bookmark is double-sided and inspired by both Renée Adhieh’s books — The Wrath and the Dawn and Flame in the Mist. It’s an exclusive by Indigo Eleven.
Enamel Pin
‘When in doubt, go to the library’ the Harry Potter inspired item this month was so cute and dainty! An exclusive from Out of Print, again I just love this.
Extra Book
This month’s box came with an extra book in paperback — Catching Stars by Cayla Keenan. I’m really excited to read this, especially seeing as though one of my favourite authors has called it magnetising!
The print is of Inej from Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows (yes, I still need to read it, and no, please don’t judge me I’m just behind!). Melanie Bourgeois made this exclusive art print, and I couldn’t help but take a photo side-by-side with Catching Stars — the characters could be twins!
Overall
I honestly don’t have the words to describe how much I loved this box, probably one of my favourite boxes yet! That wall hanging is probably the most beautiful bookish item I own… and I love how there are two enamel pins as well since I’ve started collecting them but now I’m in dire need of a fancy way to display them!
Next Month – Summer Lovin’ 🏖
From OwlCrate themselves:
‘Our book pick is a super fun story about a girl who dreams of being a groundbreaking filmmaker. She gets into all sorts of shenanigans when creating a short film for a summer film festival! The book is full of laughs, friendship, and adorable romance.
The book will be a special exclusive edition that is SIGNED by the author. We had a lot of fun with this edition…the entire dust jacket is special (not just the cover)!
June’s box will feature some of the most exciting goodies we’ve ever included (in our humble opinion)! Two items are things we’ve never sent out before and we’re so proud of how they turned out! They’re perfect for any bookworm! This box is so packed, we almost couldn’t close it!
Items will be inspired by Since You’ve Been Gone, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, and much more. You don’t need to have read these books to enjoy the items though!
We’ve also partnered up with some of the most beloved bookish shops out there. We can’t wait to share sneak peeks!’
I haven’t read many contemporaries, though that isn’t because I dislike them I just prefer fantasy. The last OwlCrate contemporary I read though was Foolish Hearts and I adored that, so I have high hopes for their choice for June’s book! They’ve also announced an exclusive wooden bookmark from @inkandwonder.designs will be included which I’m excited about as I adore woodmarks!
