July’s FairyLoot box had items inspired by Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes, Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, And I Darken by Kiersten White, Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young and Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. And as always, art for the box by Taratjah was gorgeous!
The Book
Usually I get way more excited for the rest of the items instead of the book but this time… I’d read the book included (Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton) and loved it so I was so excited! Red sprayed edges and it’s actually signed! The anime inspired print of Mia and Quin is so cute too – I love it all. So here’s some photos for you to swoon over like I did! Highly suggest that you read the book too if you haven’t already, it is awesomeeee.
Room Spray
This room spray smells gorgeous – books and lavender – probably my two favourite scents in the whole world. This is from Geeky Clean and inspired by Sara Raasch’s Snow Like Ashes series (which I desperately need to read having just read These Rebel Waves)…
Magical Mug
This mug has a quote on it designed by Little Inkling Designs and inspired by Falling Kingdoms. I do think it’s beautiful when you can see the quote but I’m not too keen on it otherwise as it’s just a bit too dark
Quidditch Pen
With a non-legit quote on it saying “Don’t chase the quaffle if you see the snitch” I was pretty underwhelmed with this item… It’s cute, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t say it’s one of my favourites and what annoys me more is if you’re supposed to find the snitch you’re a seeker so you have nothing to do with quaffles and I know I’m taking it too seriously but just… I’m not keen on it.
Sticker
The Sky in the Deep inspired item is this sticker with ond eldr on. It’s designed by Reverie and Ink but although I like it I really loved the book so was hoping for something a little more… more?
Tea Towel
If you’re a subscriber you’ll know that sadly this tea towel was printed with an error – it’s only really readable through a mirror… They’re being replaced though and I really like the design anyway. It’s a quote from And I Darken and was designed by KDP Letters.
Art Print
Have I mentioned that I LOVE art prints yet? Because I do. I started reading Children of Blood and Bone in London when YALC was on too, and after meeting Tomi Adeyemi it made me love this item even more! This is from Diana Worak, one of my favourite illustrators.
Promotional Items
This month’s box came with a postcard containing an exclusive excerpt to Sweet Black Waves by Kristina Perez, I actually bought this book ahead of London to get it signed at YALC, pretty sure it’ll be one I enjoy!
Overall
Some of these items I’m basically like eh to, but I adore the book (which is signed. With sprayed pages. So yay), art print, HoT character art and also the FairyLoot art. The spray smells gorgeous too of course! I’ll like the tea towel also once it’s been replaced so overall I’d say I’m pretty happy with last month’s box, but I’m definitely looking forward to the next.
Next Month – Mutinous Pirates ☠️
From FairyLoot themselves:
‘This box is inspired by some of our favourite pirate books and pirates! The book we are featuring is a fabulous pirate book inspired by the Spanish Inquisition. It’s filled with magic (and botanical magic!), adventure and you guessed it – mutiny! This marvelous book is from a bestselling author and has a cast of fantastic characters. We’re so thrilled to reveal that the edition we will be including is a FairyLoot exclusive as it will have SPRAYED PAGES and will actually be SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR! We cannot wait for you guys to see these stunning unique copies in person!
This box will feature items inspired by Shadow and Bone (Nikolai!), To Kill A Kingdom, Pirates of the Caribbean and Daughter of the Pirate King. We have got some REALLY unique items in this box that we have been so enthusiastic about for months! Don’t worry if you haven’t read any of these books – you can still enjoy all of the items, promise!
We are also very excited to reveal that this box will include an exclusively designed special sampler of King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo! If you’re a Bardugo fan then you are not going too miss this.’
When I was younger I had a massive obsession with Pirates of the Caribbean which led to an obsession with pirates in general (and I was also a geek then so that meant like looking up all the history etc too). I still love pirates and I’m fairly sure that I always will…
Again, pretty sure I’ve read the book already… (Definitely sure) AND I LOVED IT SO BRING ON THE EXCLUSIVE SIGNED COPY. And then there are items inspired by To Kill a Kingdom and Daughter of the Pirate King – easily two of my favourite reads from this year. I haven’t got round to the Shadow and Bone trilogy yet, although I did pick up the limited edition signed copies from YALC (let’s face it, who could have resisted?) but it’s high on my list of catch up reads and I’m pretty sure I’ll love it.
I think this is the most excited I’ve been for a FairyLoot yet, but I’m praying that it’s things I can use mostly (I wouldn’t oppose a water bottle with something like ‘Why is the rum always gone?’ on it, though it may be risky using it in work).

Yeah I’m definitely hoping that next month’s items are a bit more exciting, especially with the theme! The book and art prints saved this month’s for me though.
