May’s FairyLoot box had items inspired by Shatter Me, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, The Cruel Prince, The Wrath and The Dawn, Flame in the Mist, The Selection, Girls of Paper and Fire and A Court of Thorns and Roses. Art for the box by Taratjah was gorgeous again!
Check out all the items below.
The Book
This month’s book was The Beholder by Anna Bright, and it’s such a beautiful FairyLoot exclusive! I love the edges and this is a release I’ve been excited for – see below for a synopsis. The character art is by @rachelhanke27.
Synopsis
‘Selah has waited her whole life for a happily ever after. As the only daughter of the leader of Potomac, she knows her duty is to find the perfect match, a partner who will help secure the future of her people. Now that day has finally come.
But after an excruciatingly public rejection from her closest childhood friend, Selah’s stepmother suggests an unthinkable solution: Selah must set sail across the Atlantic, where a series of potential suitors awaits—and if she doesn’t come home engaged, she shouldn’t come home at all.
From English castle gardens to the fjords of Norge, and under the eye of the dreaded Imperiya Yotne, Selah’s quest will be the journey of a lifetime. But her stepmother’s schemes aren’t the only secrets hiding belowdecks…and the stakes of her voyage may be higher than any happy ending.’
Bamboo Travel Mug
So… I don’t know if I’ll ever read the Shatter Me series but I really like this mug anyway! The design from @kdpletters is just beautiful.
Pencil Case
This pencil case is inspired by Daughter of Smoke and Bone and designed by the Literary Lifestyle Company. I love the aesthetics and having recently read Laini’s Strange the Dreamer duology I’m hoping to get round to this one soonish!
Keychain
This crown keychain features a quote from The Cruel Prince and is from FairyLoot themselves, it’s beautiful!
Magnetic Bookmark Set
Designed by @lexaarts_, this bookmark set features character art from Renée Adhieh’s Flame in the Mist and The Wrath and the Dawn series. I loved Flame in the Mist (still need to get round to Smoke in the Sun) and I’ve no doubt I’d like her other series too.
Tea Towel
I can appreciate the design of this tea towel but sadly it will never be used and I don’t think I’ll ever be reading The Selection series… anyway, the lettering is by @catarinabookdesigns and the characters have been drawn by @taratjah. It’s beautiful but sadly a little wasted on me!
Candle
This starfall candle by Little Hearts Gifts (label designed by @taratjah) is inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses, I love the art on it.
Notepad
Inspired by Girls of Paper and Fire, this notepad features a quote from the book. I still need to read this one too… Even though I’m dying to read it.
Sticker
Designed by @obsidiayan, this sticker features Magnus and Alec from the Shadowhunter world. It’s super cute but although I keep trying to read The Mortal Instruments I just can’t get into it? Anyway, still adorable.
Mint Tin
Mints in a tin… with a funny design. I’m not complaining, basically I’m happy with any kind of food being included in boxes.
Tarot Cards
This month’s tarot cards are again inspired by Six of Crows and feature artwork from @artbyemmilinne.
Another reminder I should read SoC and the Grisha trilogy…
Overall
Although the items aren’t all useful for me (they could easily be for someone else though) I did love the designs of them! For me though, even if I didn’t love the items I guess the book itself pretty much makes up for it — it’s just so beautiful!
Next Month – Broody Banter 🖤
From FairyLoot themselves:
‘Do you love broody characters with a great sense of humour? Characters that are often gloom and doom but their sarcastic and dry remarks leave you in stitches? YES? Because we sure do and this box is a tribute to them!
You can expect items inspired by To Kill A Kingdom, The Raven Cycle, The Witchlands, Air Awakens, The Lux Series and more! This box will also feature a main item that we have never ever included in any box before and we cannot wait for you guys to see it! It’ll be part of a new collectible item series that we will do every couple of months.
To complete your perfect reading year, this box will also include the next reading journal for July-December. This journal will feature exclusive artwork by @monolimeart (we adore Bonnie’s art!), and yes you guessed it… it’s all about broody characters.
Our featured book of the month will be a FairyLoot exclusive − it will be SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR and have SHIMMERY SPRAYED EDGES! We will also have an exclusive deleted chapter in this box. We absolutely adored the story and we think you will too! You can expect sword-wielding librarians, romance, grimoires filled with magic and broody characters with top notch banter.
This box will also have the next two cards in our tarot deck collection. It will be the start of a new fandom, which is none other than Harry Potter, and they will illustrated by @loweana.art! They are gorgeous!’
I do indeed love broody characters with a great sense of humour, so I’m excited for this box! To Kill a Kingdom is a book I raved about for months as well so of course I’m super excited to see that item! I know the book also, and I’m currently reading it… As it’s from an author whose previous work I enjoyed too I’m dying to see the shimmery sprayed edges on FairyLoot’s edition!
