FairyLoot’s March 2021 box contained items inspired by The Bear and the Nightingale, Wintersong, Spinning Silver, Wicked Saints, Winterwood and Even The Darkest Stars, with the theme being Frozen Fables.
I really liked this box, the items were perfect for the theme and they look so… sparkly. And I love sparkly things so yep, big win!
Check out all of the items below.
The Book
This month’s book was The Bright & The Pale by Jessica Rubinkowski, this looks like a really interesting read and I would be lying if I didn’t say the original cover already had my interest!
The FairyLoot edition comes with an exclusive cover, sprayed edges, exclusive foil embossing on the case, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket and is signed on custom end pages. It also comes with an author letter, the reverse featuring character art by @gabsternaut, who also designed the reverse artwork of the dust jacket.
Synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Valeria is one of the only survivors of the freeze, a dark magical hold Knnot Mountain unleashed over her village. Everyone, including her family, is trapped in an unbreakable sheet of ice. Ever since, she’s been on the run from the Czar, who is determined to imprison any who managed to escape. Valeria finds refuge with the Thieves Guild, doing odd jobs with her best friend Alik, the only piece of home she has left.
That is, until he is brutally murdered.
A year later, she discovers Alik is alive and being held against his will. To buy his freedom, she must lead a group of cutthroats and thieves on a perilous expedition to the very mountain that claimed her family. Only something sinister slumbers in the heart of Knnot.
And it has waited years for release.

Ceramic Mug
Featuring art from @monolimeart, this mug is inspired by the Winternight Trilogy and it’s beautiful, I love how there’s even a little snowflake at the bottom of the cup!
Phone Ring Holder
A design by @ironandinkdesigns, this phone ring holder is inspired by Shea Ernshaw’s Winterwood and it looks awesome! I haven’t read the book but I adored Shea’s debut, so it’s one I need to get round to soon.
Socks
Honestly, socks in book boxes are one of my favourite items. I think it’s because I end up using them the most but just, I love the cute winter scene on these! They’re inspired by Even the Darkest Stars and designed by @jezhawk – I’ll definitely be wearing these whenever I next head out of the house!
Foiled Notebook
Anyone else just collect pretty notebooks because… why not? This is so pretty with the foil designs and the quote even has me interested in reading Wintersong! It’s designed and illustrated by @taratjah, with plain pages inside.
Headband
I’m first going to address the design of this, because @catarinabookdesigns did do a great job on it! It definitely gives off winter vibes. But, with the recent things that have come to light about the author of Wicked Saints this isn’t an item I’ll be keeping.
Foiled Art Print
Inspired by Spinning Silver, this foiled art print appropriately features silver foil! It’s a very pretty print from @warickaart.
Tarot Cards
More character art from @arz28, this month’s tarot cards being inspired by the Winternight Trilogy.
Overall
So. Much. Blue! Blue and purple are my two favourite colours so this box was basically really pleasing on my eyes. Weirdly, the socks are probably my favourite item, although I adore the notebook as well (and you can never have too many notebooks, right?)
All-in-all I just super loved this box. Can’t wait to get round to the book too!
Next Month – Hidden Identities 💜
From FairyLoot themselves:
‘We are so excited to reveal the April theme for our monthly box and it is… HIDDEN IDENTITIES!
You might think you know who someone truly is, but what if they are keeping a secret? A secret that could change everything… for the better or for the worse? As Phaedrus wisely said, “things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many”.
In this box you can expect items inspired by From Blood and Ash*, The Lord of the Rings, The City of Brass, Flame in the Mist and a foiled bookmark set inspired by the following fandoms: An Ember in the Ashes, The Poppy War and Blood Heir. For now, we won’t be revealing any item artists but we will say that we are featuring an item in this box that we have NEVER included before!
Our featured book of the month is a dark fantasy filled with unforgettable characters, intrigue, magic and a dash of swoon-worthy romance. We were hooked from page one and all of the plot twists still have us reeling! This FairyLoot exclusive edition will have an EXCLUSIVE COVER, STENCIL & SPRAYED EDGES, ARTWORK ON THE REVERSE OF THE DUST JACKET by @alicemariapower, FOIL EMBOSSING ON THE CASE by @talia.nobel, BONUS CONTENT in the book and will be SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.’
Okay I am pretty sure I know this book, and I love this book, so I’m super excited to see what FairyLoot will be doing with their copy!
In terms of fandoms, I can’t complain about any of them. The only one I’ve not read (not counting bookmark fandoms) will be From Blood and Ash but I do have a copy I’m reading at the minute.
The only shame is that Jordan will 100% be stealing the LOTR item off of me. Sigh.
*This was originally The Shadows Between Us, but was changed to From Blood and Ash. Either way two books I haven’t read but can’t wait to read!
