The theme for FairyLoot’s May 2021 box was Spellcraft and it contained items inspired by Serpent & Dove, Throne of Glass, Raybearer and Crave.
All-in-all, it was another box I really loved! Some gorgeous items and I loved the non-fandom specific one too!
Check out all the items below.
This month’s book was Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart, I’ve heard so many great things about it so can’t wait to get round to it!
The FairyLoot edition has an exclusive, completely redesigned cover, stencil edges on each side, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket by @eunicify.art, foil embossing on the case, a ribbon bookmark, is signed by the author and also comes with an author letter featuring character artwork on the reverse by @bloodydamnit.
I adore the end result to be honest, it looks more like a spellbook than a fiction book and I think it’s just perfect!
Divided by their order. United by their vengeance.
Iraya has spent her life in a cell, but every day brings her closer to freedom – and vengeance.
Jazmyne is the Queen’s daughter, but unlike her sister before her, she has no intention of dying to strengthen her mother’s power.
Sworn enemies, these two witches enter a precarious alliance to take down a mutual threat. But power is intoxicating, revenge is a bloody pursuit, and nothing is certain – except the lengths they will go to win this game.
This Jamaican-inspired fantasy debut about two enemy witches who must enter into a deadly alliance to take down a common enemy has the twisted cat-and-mouse of Killing Eve with the richly imagined fantasy world of Furyborn and Ember in the Ashes.
Designed by @chattynora, I love this tumbler. It features the quote ‘From now until the darkness claims us’ from Throne of Glass and has wyverns on it, so I think I was always going to be a fan of it!
Wooden Phone Stand
I’ve wanted a phone stand for a while and this is just beautiful, the colours are so pretty and even the quote is written in beautiful handwriting! The lettering is from @ladychubbletters and it’s inspired by Raybearer.
Casually keeping this safe with all my other Serpent & Dove items before I can read the books! I love these though, I think they’d look beautiful in a frame but I’d be terrified of using them as coasters! Artwork by @arz28.
A non-fandom item, I actually really like this because I’ve been after a fancy D20 dice! I’ll probably never use it how its intended but it feels so heavy you can tell it’s well-made, thanks team FairyLoot for designing this!
This art print is designed by @gracezhuart and inspired by Crave. I haven’t read it so can’t say much but I love how this print stands out!
This month’s tarot cards are again designed by @morgana0anagrom and are inspired by Serpent & Dove. As mentioned previously, I’m pretty excited to get round to this series!
I loved how this box just felt a bit different overall, even the book itself just stands out so much against typical books and I just think it’s stunning! Added to that the tumbler seems very high quality, I love the dice included for the TBR game and the phone stand looks like a piece of art just by itself!
Next Month – Animal Companions 🖤
From FairyLoot themselves:
‘We are so excited to reveal the June theme for our monthly box and it is… ANIMAL COMPANIONS!
Have you ever felt a connection to an animal friend? Or wished for your own magic creature to accompany you on an epic quest? Whether that be a fire-spitting dragon or a talking cat, for many readers animals are the perfect companions! If you could have an animal companion, what would it be and why?
In this box you can expect items inspired by The Raven Boys, Crescent City, The Priory of the Orange Tree, Kiki’s Delivery Service and Kingdom of the Wicked. We are thrilled to reveal that this box will include TWO items that we have never featured before — one of which is a Crescent City flower pot!
Our featured book of the month is a contemporary fantasy filled with sarcastic characters, dragons, action and a dash of romance. This FairyLoot exclusive edition will have an EXCLUSIVE COVER, SPRAYED EDGES, ARTWORK ON THE REVERSE OF THE DUST JACKET by @icandrawthingz, FOIL EMBOSSING ON THE CASE by @icandrawthingz and will be SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.’
This book is my current read and honestly, I’m loving it. And I am so damn excited for the Kiki’s and KOTW items! Especially Kiki’s though, not often that we get Studio Ghibli items but you’ll get no complaints from me about it! Also, a flower pot?! Cuteeee!
I’m praying that the foil embossing with character art is of my fave character so far too. I think it would look beautiful if it was!
