OwlCrate’s June box had items inspired by Throne of Glass, Strange the Dreamer, The Starless Sea, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe and Fable.
Check out all the items below.
The Book
June’s book of the month was Sisters of the Snake by Sarena and Sasha Nanua, and I was pretty excited for this because I’d been eyeing up the ARC a little with the synopsis.
The OwlCrate edition features a cover change, a gorgeous exclusive foil design on the hardcover, reverse dust jacket art from @pauhami (which includes a white tiger, one of my all-time fave animals) and, as usual, is signed!
The exclusive pin was designed by Icey Designs, who drew inspiration from a ruby bloodstone. It’s another beautiful monthly pin! (And it’s sparkly, so yay!)
Synopsis
A lost princess. A dark puppet master. And a race against time—before all is lost.
Princess Rani longs for a chance to escape her gilded cage and prove herself. Ria is a street urchin, stealing just to keep herself alive.
When these two lives collide, everything turns on its head: because Ria and Rani, orphan and royal, are unmistakably identical.
A deal is struck to switch places—but danger lurks in both worlds, and to save their home, thief and princess must work together. Or watch it all fall into ruin.
Deadly magic, hidden temples, and dark prophecies: Sisters of the Snake is an action-packed, immersive fantasy that will thrill fans of The Crown’s Game and The Tiger at Midnight.
Lunch Tote
With a Throne of Glass inspired design from artist Janine Lecour, this is such a super cute little lunch bag! It’s got gorgeous colours on it and I’ll always be a fan of stags on anything.
Foil Art Print
Prints are great, they’re beautiful. Add foil and they’re stunningly beautiful, like this one! It’s illustrated by @kimcarlika_art and I’m so glad that this Strange the Dreamer item is this stunning!
Bottle Opener
I haven’t read The Starless Sea, and I don’t think I’ll ever get chance to BUT I love bees and this is so useful! It’s an enamel bottle opener designed by Pineapple Sundays, and it even has a large magnet on the back so you could stick it on a fridge or TBR cart! The quote as well, ‘no story ever truly ends as long as it is told’, is just such a great quote. Definitely pleasantly surprised that I loved it so much!
Water Bottle
This is part of OwlCrate’s ‘Reading Through the Seasons Drinkware’ collection, and although I don’t think I’ll ever read the book it’s inspired by (Aristotle), I still think the design is stunning – and I’m glad it’s not too obvious what fandom it is too. The design is from artist Macarena Chomik.
Decision Coin
This is probably the cutest item! A little decision coin inspired by Fable and crafted by Iron and Ink Designs. I really enjoyed the book earlier this year so I’m glad it’s a unique item!
Promo Item
I feel like this is the first time I’ve seen a promo item since I resubbed to OwlCrate? But regardless, I love that this was included because hellooo yes I adore Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim so feel free to throw every item at me based on it!
Overall
I pretty much loved this whole box. The only item I was a bit wary of was the Aristotle item but purely because of things I’ve heard about the author – but with it being a part of the collectible series it’s not very obvious?
The print is stunning, and I’d love more prints like it! The book itself having the beautiful reverse artwork (including white tiger) just makes it perfect, I love the coin and how well it fits with Fable… and the magnet bottle opener will be a welcome addition to a future house for the fridge! Not too sure when I’d use the lunch bag, but it’ll probably come in handy for carrying Diet Coke in at some point!
Next Month – Potions & Poisons 🧪
From OwlCrate themselves:
‘Our July book is all about a girl with the magical ability to grow plants simply by touch. She inherits a mysterious estate from relatives she’s never known, and upon arriving discovers secrets and magic hidden within its walls. We absolutely adored this story of dangerous plants, ancient myths, family bonds, apothecaries, and discovering your own unique gifts!
We will be including a beautiful exclusive edition of this book, with an exclusive cover, a reversible dust jacket (artist to be revealed soon), and an exclusive foil design on the hardcover case. The book will also be signed!
Items included will be inspired by potions, poisons and elixirs found in Alice in Wonderland, Labyrinth Lost, The Chronicles of Narnia, Three Dark Crowns, and The Midnight Lie!
We will also be including an amazing item not inspired by any fandoms, but we know you’ll be obsessed with it!’
So the only fandom I’m particularly excited for is Alice… but there have been a lot of Alice items in the past that have just been okay (and I mean from many different boxes). I’m hoping this will be a magical time and I love the item though, especially with how awesome the items in OwlCrate have been lately! I’ve been reading the book for this month too and really enjoying it so far!
